Alabama visit....

Where to start...how about a 4 a.m. trip to the airport which ended in a wonderful visit with our family? My constant amusement with randomness was sadly used often as I watched people throughout the airports. First there was a family where the parents acted more like children than their three year old son, then the random people who missed flights and were stuck in the airport. Once we finally landed in Nashville, waited an eternity for our ONE checked bag ($20) we met up with my very good friend KT. It was awesome to see her after all this time. She is married to a wonderful man who is almost double her height (a slight exaggeration) and recently found out she is expecting a 'peanut.' After an amazing dinner at P.F. Chang's (whose lettuce wraps are okay I guess) we met up with David's parents. It was nice to have time to talk with them as we drove to Alabama, and once we arrived SIBLINGS!!!! It was so good to see his sisters again, I love them as I have no little sisters, and his brother is wonderful that hug is one I will always cherish. After watching a rather interesting...and that's stressing the word...version of Pride and Prejudice we crashed and slept till ten a.m. this morning. So far today I have been given the grand tour, enjoyed chocolate pie for breakfast, eaten an amazing burger from Chadders, and found a craft store I can only dream one day makes it to Utah. Next off to dinner!!!! I have also found out that my mother-in-law is amazingly talented at anything she puts her mind to. If I could only one day be so talented, she is reupholstering a chair, and sewing the most amazing quilt for us. Its phenomenal really!

The wait.......

As I talked about in my last post, David is currently covering for his boss who was laid off. This means crazy long hours and busy times for my hubby. For me...it means lots of alone time and lots of waiting whenever I try to get ahold of him. As can be imagined it is quite annoying at times, I'm currently trying to teach myself to remember that he is busy earning money to support our family, all the while trying to earn the position that might be able to make our family grow. It all boils down to the one virtue that I have serious problems with.

PATIENCE

What am I to do? How do I learn this thing which is foreign to me. We live in times when things are instantaneous. Instant potatoes, emails, cell phones, text messages, online banking, you name it we get it faster and faster every time. What is a girl to do when she gets so used to this fast paced world and then they tell her...oh yeah, wait for this one. Yes, I know the best things come to those who wait (which is why I settle for second best sometimes), but SERIOUSLY they can NOT be serious...are they? Oh well, back to the grind stone.

Good news is I received permission to sub, I'm not sure if I told you that yet. I am actually doing that right now. The class I am working with is actually pretty good and I get to come work with them Thursday and Friday as well. At least this will help keep me distracted. Now I just have to work on that silly waiting for him to text back.............

Wow what a week. David's boss was laid off on monday, putting him in charge until they find a replacement. This means alot of stress on him as he deals with all of the Christmas hulabalu, an dextra stress on me as I have to deal without him. Normally this is not such a big deal, but as I finished my student teaching assigement this week I have been highly emotional and really needed someone to lean on. Luckily my friends have been more than willing to step in and amuse me in the mean time...I'll just count it down the days till it is all over....lets see now that would make it 17 days? In this seventeen days I get to amuse myself preparing for Christmas, work as often as possible, and hope to at least see my husband before I fall asleep at night. Just think of the paycheck I guess. Really I feel bad for the poor guy, as of last night he had already put in 58 hours in five days.

As for Christmas, this year should be interesting. We are heading to Alabama to see Davids family. I am very excited to see them again, I am one of the lucky ones and have GREAT in-laws. It is the whole--different traditions, away from my family, and NO SNOW???-- that has me kinda nervous for this one. I'll make sure to fill everyone in on how it all goes, which I'm sure will be great. David is so excited he has been counting down the days for over a week now; not only does he get to go home and see his family, but he gets to show off his hometown and his old haunts to me, something he has been bragging about since we started dating.
